Updates to Forge Pricing: Effective January 2026
Teams around the globe trust the Atlassian Platform to strengthen collaboration and do their best work. But, no two teams are the same. Forge unlocks deep customization on the Atlassian Platform, helping every team shape Atlassian tools to their exact needs.
Over 5,000 apps have been created and deployed to production on Forge since GA release, running in Atlassian’s secure environment. Forge makes it easy for any developer to assemble apps that meet enterprise-grade standards like data residency, by providing security controls that apps inherit. According to a recent study by compliance platform Vanta, simply keeping date within the Forge boundary can take care of 30% of SOC2 requirements.
Forge has seen great growth since its introduction, and we are committed to longterm sustainability and innovation on our platform. In order to continue to scale Forge and invest in new security benefits and features, we will introduce a new pricing model effective January 1, 2026.
Forge will offer a generous free tier to support experimentation and innovation, and we expect many Forge apps to remain completely free, with their usage completely covered by the free tier. Above the free tier, developers only pay for what they use, with consumption-based pricing for certain hosted Forge features.
Forge pricing
Each Forge app will receive a free usage allowance that refreshes on a monthly basis. Above the free usage allowance, resource consumption will be charged the price above threshold.
Family | Capability | Unit | Free usage allowance (per month) | Price above threshold | Change since preview announcement |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Compute | Forge Functions | $/GB-second | 100,000 GB-seconds | $0.000025 | Within range |
KVS | Forge KVS: Data Read | $/GB | 0.1 GB | $0.055 | Below range |
Forge KVS: Data Written | $/GB | 0.1 GB | $1.090 | Below range | |
Forge KVS: Data Stored | — | — | — | Will not be charged January 1; pricing coming later in 2026 | |
Logs | Forge Logs: Data Written | $/GB | 1 GB | $1.005 | Within range |
SQL | Forge SQL: Compute Duration | $/hr | 1 hour | $0.143 | New |
Forge SQL: Compute Requests | $/1M-requests | 100,000 requests | $1.929 | New | |
Forge SQL: Data Stored | $/GB | 1 GB | $0.561 | New |
Invoicing
Invoices will be generated per-developer space. A developer space groups together multiple apps developed by an individual, a partner organization, or a customer. The developer space admin will receive a single invoice, combining charges for any apps in the space consuming resources above the free threshold. Invoices are generated monthly, in arrears.

Each developer space must be associated with a payment method. At launch, credit cards and ACH will be supported.
Apps can be moved from one developer space to another, and individuals or organizations may have multiple developer spaces. For example, a partner could transfer an app from their developer space to a customer’s space. Automated transfer will be available for non-Marketplace apps, but transfer from Marketplace partner to Marketplace partner (e.g. in the event of an acquisition), will require raising a ticket, manually.
An app may only be associated with a single developer space at a time, and may not be transferred with an outstanding balance.
Cost dashboard and cost estimator
We know developers need transparent tracking and predictable costs, and we are launching new tools to help understand and forecast Forge usage.
The cost dashboard can be found by navigating to Usage and costs in the Developer Console. The dashboard shows both month-to-date usage of Forge resources and forecasted costs for the ongoing month. Developers will be able to view usage per-app in the cost dashboard, and later this year we will show usage across the entire developer space.
While the cost dashboard shows usage for apps that are already running in Forge’s environment, the cost estimator helps developers estimate pricing for apps before they are built. Developers can input quantities for expected usage and receive an estimate for monthly costs.
SLAs and support
Paid users of Forge will receive 1:1 support through the ECOHELP service desk.
Paying users of Forge at higher tiers may also qualify for enhanced support, which includes shorter initial response time Service Level Objectives (SLOs). As we approach , further details regarding this offering will be shared.
We’re in the process of finalizing Service Level Agreements for Forge, and details will be shared as we get closer to the effective pricing date. Directionally, SLAs will be based on uptime for critical Forge functions like Compute, KVS, and SQL. If issues are encountered, paying Forge users will be able to submit a request in the form of credits added to the next bill.
Timeline and next steps
Today, we’re announcing official prices and launching tools to help Forge developers track and estimate costs:
- Cost dashboard, located on the Usage and costs screen in the Developer Console
- Cost estimator
As we approach , we will introduce billing in stages:
- Starting in late Q3 CY25, developers will be able to view their developer space, create new spaces, and choose which spaces their apps are associated with.
- In early Q4 CY25, we’ll begin a closed Early Access Program (EAP) where developer space admins can see 100% discounted bills in the developer console. This allows developers to become familiar with the invoice process for several billing cycles before actual charges begin accruing.
- Space admins will be able to associate a payment method for their space
- On January 1, 2026, Forge usage will begin counting toward billing, and the first invoice will be issued in February. Monthly invoices will be charged to the payment method on file.
Summary
We are grateful for the partners and customers who have trusted us to run their apps on Forge since its launch. Introducing pricing for Forge will allow us to extend that stewardship far into the future, supporting investments in the platform and bringing more capabilities that will enable developers to provide even more value to app end users.
We are here to support our customers, partners and developer community through this transition. Developers can direct questions to partner and customer success teams, and we encourage Forge developers to explore the new cost dashboard in the Developer Console and the cost estimator.
FAQ
Will I be charged for apps I build privately for use by me or my team?
Free thresholds and prices will be the same for both private apps and apps commercially available in the Marketplace. We expect most private apps to not be charged for Forge usage due to our generous free threshold.
Will I be charged for usage in my development environment?
Yes. Usage will be measured across all environments.
Will I be charged for my app’s usage even if the app is listed for free on the Marketplace?
Yes, usage above the free tier will be charged regardless of whether or not the app is listed on the Atlassian Marketplace as free or paid. We are exploring usage or throttling controls that would aid developers of free apps in keeping their costs low. We welcome any feedback on this issue if it is relevant to you.
How will I know if I’m about to exceed the free tier limits? What happens then?
We are planning to launch alerts that will notify developer space admins when an app is approaching the free tier threshold for a Forge resource. If you have a valid payment method associated with your developer space and the auto-payment is successful, your app will continue working uninterrupted once its usage exceeds the free tier limits.
